I am obsessed with technology and I write code every day. I cut my chops at a traditional ISP before silicon valley, so I've seen everything from Cray to Cloud. A father, founder, and an amateur at all things; I love learning, but I pride myself on putting pragmatism before idealism. My guiding direction in life is to accrue maximum responsibility.
Joined as first platform engineer, built a great team. Migrated entire infrastructure to AWS EKS. Reduced downtime and increased deployment speed dramatically. Cut costs aggressively. Worked across teams to improve performance and drive velocity.
Founded a startup that makes self-hosting easy. Built and designed the company: hardware, frontend, backend, infrastructure, marketing, sales, community management, factory assembly, taxes, etc! Launched $200k Kickstarter. Funded by YCombinator in S19.
Transformed RunKit's reliability engineering from prototype to enterprise-ready. Built a “remote-code-execution-as-a-service” platform secure enough for Stripe! Sat on TC39 ECMAScript advisory board.
Part of a very small team with extremely high traffic (top 10 Alexa ranked site, 3-person SRE team). Rearchitected several internet-facing apps to improve reliability and performance. Reduced 99p latency by a factor of 10. Dramatic optimization, upgrade, and migration of extremely busy MySQL datastores with no downtime.
On-call for messaging systems used by large healthcare providers and hospitals. The product's reliability was mission critical. Chef, Erlang, AWS, and an extremely robust CI/CD chain.
